Newsgroups and forums that exist to discuss suicide have been around for some time. In 2006, a retired schoolteacher would go down a rabbit hole after discovering that some of these places online are frequented by people who are discussing how to end their lives. Horrified, she begins to see a pattern. A woman, going by various aliases, identifies herself as a suicidal nurse who is making suicide pacts with dozens of others. She is also informing them on the best ways to take their own lives. The retired teacher, Celia Blay, begins documenting these incidents and even uncovers the identity of the nurse. She is actually a middle-aged man from Minnesota named William Francis Melchert-Dinkel. She takes her research to the police and they tell her not to look at it if it bothers her. But Celia will not look away and she won't stop her quest until this man is brought to justice.
