January 12, 1998. Laurens County, Georgia. Officer Kyle Dinkheller pulled over a truck traveling at 98 miles per hour. Unexpectedly, the man in the truck gets out and begins behaving strangely. He puts his hands in his pockets, dances, and charges at the officer who is doing his best to give the man commands. The stop takes a turn for the worse when the motorist retrieves an M1 carbine rifle from within the truck and a shootout ensues. This gunfire results in the death of the officer. When the assailant is captured the next day he is identified as Andrew Brannan. A Vietnam veteran diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. The murder was captured on the officer's dash cam and is used to show new police recruits why they need to protect themselves at all times.
