Silk Road. February 2011. San Francisco, California. A man launched a darknet market that allowed sellers and buyers to deal illegal drugs online. What started with some posts on some drug related forums became a huge success as word spread and more people discovered that they could buy drugs anonymously on the internet. A few years later, though, the founder, Dread Pirate Roberts, was under investigation and a task force was moving ever closer to learning his identity, shutting his operation down and bringing him to justice. But some in the task force developed ulterior motives and the case of Silk Road became much more than anyone could have ever predicted.
