Delphi Murders

April 02, 2022

On Valentine’s Day 2017, the bodies of two missing teenage girls from Delphi, Indiana (13-year-old Abigail Williams and 14-year-old Liberty German), were found at the foot of a hill in the woods near Carroll County, Indiana.

Although their causes of death were not publicly released, foul play was evident and a video found on Liberty German’s cell phone (which was also uploaded to her snapchat account), showed the image of an unidentified man along with the audio of a male voice saying “down the hill”. According to this article the killer's DNA was found at the scene.

It hasn’t officially been confirmed if the voice of the man on the audio belongs to the man in the picture and authorities do entertain the theory that more than one person could have been involved.

Both the image and Audio file were released in an attempt to identify the man whom police believe to be a suspect in the double homicide case.

The girls had been dropped off at the Monon High Bridge, a popular place for locals to begin their hikes and have impromptu photo-shoots against the scenic backdrop of the local nature. Abby and Libby were having an impromptu photo shoot of their own on the locally popular bridge.

This map, which I found on a Reddit post recapping the case, illustrates the abduction spot as well as the location that the bodies were discovered.

As you can see on the map, there’s a patch of land highlighted “probably property line” and encircled in blue. The bodies were found just on the edge of this land, and the land itself belongs to a 77 year-old Delphi man named Ronald Logan. Logan has since been arrested for violating his probation after an arrest 3 years earlier for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Now according to this article, Logan only had around a month left when he got behind the wheel to drive to a nearby waste processing site. This incident occurred on the very same day that the two Delphi girls were murdered. Is he involved in any way? Could he know the killer? Or was Logan just unfortunate enough to have two murdered teenage girls dumped on his property?

There’s a news report featuring a brief interview with Logan here [X]

Also, is the man in the picture connected to this double homicide or was he just an innocent man out walking the trails who was too scared to come forward? At first he wasn't considered a suspect by the police, but he is now the prime suspect in the case.

Recently a sketch of the unidentified man in the photograph has been released.

He’s described as a white male, between 5”6 and 5”10 with brown hair, weighing between 180lbs – 200lbs.

Now when I first saw this, I wondered how they managed to create the sketch, since the image is so grainy and if there was a clearer image of the man on the video, it would have been released to the public in the hope of identifying him. So then I found a report that stated a witness gave these details. So someone actually saw this man? There was a witness? Apparently so.

The report also stated that the hat the man is wearing in the sketch may not be a true likeness, and urges the public to study his facial features instead. It doesn’t really matter what clothes he’s wearing (unless you could place him at the scene as an eyewitness on the day the girls were murdered of course) as he could change them easily and wouldn’t be wearing the same outfit everyday. Especially after this photo was released. He may even have gotten rid of his facial hair, too.

Many have drawn comparisons between the murder of Abby and Libby and a slightly older case that happened just over 400 miles away in Evansdale, Iowa in Black Hawk County. In 2012, the bodies of two girls (Elizabeth June Marie Collins, 8 & Lyric Ray Lynn Cook, 10) were found murdered in a wildlife park; also on the 13th day of the month. However, there is no official link to connect the two cases.

If you have any information on this case, please do not hesitate to contact the relevant authorities. Call the tip lines at 844-459-5786 or send an email to abbyandlibbytip@cacoshrf.com
