The body of 21-Year-Old Adriana Suazo was found on the morning of Sunday, June 1, 2025.
Her remains were discovered in a wooded area near Central Avenue in Milton, a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts.
Although the cause of death has not yet been announced, the case has intensified concerns that a serial killer may be operating in the New England area. Those who subscribe to the theory fear an unidentified assailant may be crossing state lines to kill women.
Nevertheless, police have stated they do not believe Suazo’s death is connected to a series of recent murders.
A GoFundMe started by one of the victim's sisters, Mel, has, at the time of writing, reached over $10,000 of an $11,000 goal.
Mel wrote: "Adriana wasn’t just my sister—she was a firecracker, full of life, laughter, and fierce love. She was rambunctious, bold, and had a personality that could light up any room. If you knew Adriana, you know she didn’t play about her family. She was headstrong, yes—but more than anything, she was loyal. Ride-or-die, no matter what. She loved hard, laughed loud, and made sure the people around her felt it."
The string of murders sparked conversation across social media platforms about the possibility of an active serial killer in the area. A private Facebook group, New England SK (New England Serial Killer), has been discussing the murders amongst its 32.0k members.
Media outlets report that multiple victims have been discovered across several area’s including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine.
The body of a missing woman, 35-year-old Paige Aliehs Fannon, of West Islip, New York, was found by scuba divers on March 6, 2025. Police found Fannon's clothing and other personal affects belonging to the victim on the bank next to the fast flowing river she was recovered from. She was last seen the day before, on March 5.
On March 6, 2025, a hunter walking in the woods in Plymouth, Massachusetts, found the jaw and partial skull of an unidentified victim of indeterminate gender and age.
Then, on March 19, 2025, approximately 80miles from Norwalk, the dismembered body of an unidentified female was found in a suitcase near a Groton cemetery.
Not much was known of the woman initially, other than that she was estimated to be between the ages of 40 and 60.
She was later identified as 58-year-old Suzanne Wormser.
Donald Coffel, 68, of Groton was later charged in her death. According to media outlets, Coffel admitted to police that he had struck Wormser in the head with a baseball bat in their shared apartment where they lived as roommates.
He lived with the body for over a week before finally dismembering it, putting various parts into trash bags, and the torso in a suitcase, which he left at the entrance way of the nearby Colonel Ledyard Cemetery.
On March 21, 2025, the decayed remains of 59-year-old Denise Leary were discovered along the 100 block of Rock Creek Road in a wooded area in New Haven, Connecticut.
The remains, which were in an advanced state of decay, were found by residents who were clearing out a section of brush at the back of a property.
She had been missing since September and struggled with paranoid schizophrenia.
Denise was a mother of two, born and raised in Connecticut. She eventually moved to Atlanta with her children, Joshua, 20, and Morgan,18.
Joshua said that before she went missing, his mother went out at around 10:30pm and asked him to turn off the location on her cell phone. Which he did.
Someone picked her up, he said, although he could not see who. She came back later that night.
A few days later, when he knocked on her locked bedroom door, there was no answer. Her silence continued and it wasn’t until paramedics knocked down the door that they saw it was empty. An open window and footprints on the ground below were all that was left behind.
On March 26, 2025, the remains of missing mother, 56-year-old Michele Romano, were found in a wooded area of Rhode Island.
A passing motorist who stopped along Route 14 in Foster made the discovery and a local resident at the time told WJAR that a "suspicious trash bag" was found at the scene.
At the time of writing, the cause of death has not been made public, although police said it was considered suspicious.
When she went missing the previous summer, friends and family were adamant that she would never voluntarily choose to leave her two children behind.
She had been missing for eight months before her body was eventually found.
The victim's friend, John Michelotti, said of the death: “She deserves justice. She didn’t just die and end up in the woods. Someone has to be held accountable for what happened to her.”
Another body was found on April 9, 2025, in Killingly, Connecticut, however no details pertaining to the victims age or gender have been released to the public.
At this point in the investigation there is no forensic link between the murders.
Anyone who was with Adriana Suazo in the last week or so is urged to call the Massachusetts State Police Tip Line at the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office at 781-830-4990.
